@channon—-Congrats!!!! 🙂 I’m so happy for you!!!!! Keep us posted…..July 16, 2012 at 4:41 pm #1766MAD@NACAParticipant
I have been going through the NACA home purchase program since February 2012.
I had all of the normal issues, lack of communication, delays, my file was deleted etc.
We were approved by UW last month, however not for the amount we requested. Now ALL NACA employees I have spoken to REFUSE to provide an explanation as to what happened with the amount. We resubmitted to underwriting asking for them to consider $2000 a month over payments we made. They denied and will only approve based on my 401K amount and our curent rent. However, when you add these 2 up it is MORE than they approved us for so I can’t help but think their calculator is broken. When asking for an explanation for the reason it was denied they just said “because we said so” like I am 5 years old. I know it is their decision I am just trying to understand what is going on.
I volunteered this last weekend and my MC was running the home purchase class, she was very not happy to see me because she thinks I am going to make a big issue with her about never answering my questions which I DID NOT.
I did speak to a senior MC though and he said that he would look into it and contact me this morning….still no contact from him either.
I have spoken to people in Charolette because I posted on another blog and the supervisor has been on the emails, he is a national director and he never replies to emails, no one will provide any answers, I just want to know WHY.
Also, at purchase class where you get your approval papers, they talk about this great deal with BofA and Naca and the REO’s. I have requested the listing 3 times already that they told us would been automatically emailed to us the week after the class wich was over a month ago.
I don’t understand the lack of communication and follow through.
We would not get so angry if we could just get someone to tell us exactly what is going on.
I need 2 things.
1. An answer as to why underwriting would not allow the extra payments we made to be added in for payment shock savings when the NACA program clearly allows it.
2. I need to be emailed the BofA REO listing that NACA gets a special deal on.July 16, 2012 at 5:01 pm #1767
Thank you @cantwait the road has been hard and I’m still holding on by faith. I want to propose to NACA that they allow me to volunteer as a member advocate. I am a mental health and substance abuse counselor and have been for the last 13yrs. It is very important that members receive counseling support during this process because the emotional toll it has on a person mind, body and sprit is underestimated. I thought I could handle anything and this process has showm me that the strongest can be made meek in a moments time. Thank God for EAP and 5 free sessions from my job, I’m making an appointment for next week!July 16, 2012 at 5:09 pm #1768
@mad@naca it took 4 weeks before I got a reply from BOA Reo and the list they send is in excel format, it doesn’t give you any information regarding property status. It only has the address and purchase amount. I emailed rpride@naca. I found the best way to get BOA Reo listing is to goggle BOA REO Properties you put in your area, purchase price etc just like a realt estate site and it will give you listings in your area and price range with property descriptions. Maybe Tim can help you with the payment question.July 16, 2012 at 5:30 pm #1771christelhParticipant
Congrats channon1208, I’m so, so happy for you. I have followed ALL your posts. You had me a bit nervous when you said you might be homeless. God is GOOD!! I hope to be where you are one day 🙂July 16, 2012 at 7:44 pm #1773cynmercyParticipant
Congratulations!!! I am very very very happy that you have finally made it to the end of this extremely long, tumultuous and disheartening journey… Following your journey has truly strengthen my hope, and I bet for everyone else here too, that the same will happen for us, hopefully a little quicker and less rockier. You have proven that giving up, which would be any of our first reactions, isn’t the way and to stick it out. I know I’m going to have to come back to re-read this many more times. Getting to the point where you were pretty much homeless, it shouldn’t have to come to that. Growing up with a single mother in government housing, I know that feeling. Never actually getting to that point but we came close many times. You would have thought that the situation you were in would have been a reason to give special attention to your case. But God has heard our prayers and is with you, for you will, by the end of the week will official be a home owner. The ultimate American dream. A sign of accomplishment. Your house will be your trophy to show you won the NACA challenge… And again “Congratulations” to you….
Now!!! One down, and the rest of us to go…. 🙂July 16, 2012 at 7:59 pm #1775PackedAndReadyParticipant

Today finally after 3 emails I got the REO listing.
Too bad there were not houses in the area I want to live.
I hope they send out updates when new houses come.
I have heard nothing more about the questions I have in regards to my approval…..so I continue to wait.July 18, 2012 at 1:42 pm #1839

CONGRATULATIONS! You did it! you hung in there, refused to give up and got your home!
The seller didn’t back out, you got the home at a lower price than you anticipated, and it all worked out to your favor! Just proves you have to add some Faith sometimes to the Patience and Persistence I’m always going on about.
I’m thrilled for you of course. Think you could send me a picture of you standing in front of your new home once you get the keys? I’ll add it to the wall of new homeowners here in my office.
