I have owned my NACA home for over 9 years, I was trying to refinance the loan and asked for a lien release. They are claiming that I have to pay them the balance of my NSF fees. My loan was originally serviced through Citimortgage, but then they sold it to Cenlar. I have made a total of 118 mortgage payments, but apparently when my loan was sold (not my choice) they stopped paying the $50 NSF fee and Cenlar said they have no record that they were supposed to disburse the $50 from Citimortgage. Since I am not responsible for the disbursements and NACA has never mentioned they haven’t been receiving the NSF fee, I had no idea this was not happening. Now I’m being told that I have to satisfy those fees in full before they will release the lien to me. So even though the lien is “silent” they are holding the lien back because of the NSF fees.

I have looked through all of my closing documents and my citibank documentation and there is no mention of the total amount of the NSF fees and/or having to pay it off to release the lien. Can someone please help me?
