If your file is submitted with a counselor at the Achieve the Dream event, how long will it take for an underwriter to look at it since its all virtual? Is it still same day?May 15, 2020 at 5:44 pm #68053TTrumbleMember
The objective is for it to be reviewed by the underwriter the same day, and based on the way these first couple of days of the virtual events have gone, that should be the case for at least 95% of files submitted, and probably 100%. There’s just too many variables to make it an absolute guarantee though.
If you are submitted late in the day or if we have had a high number of submissions (or both), there’s no telling when that decision might come through though. If you’re familiar with the live ATD events, we keep going until the last person has been taken care of each day, regardless of the size of the crowd. It often means we are there until 1:00 or 2:00 in the morning, then turn around and do it all over again at 8:00 am.
Just for reference, each four-day event will max out at about 7,500 people, which is in the range of a mid-size live event. The advantage to the virtual events though is that it’s “all hands on deck” for our staff. Every NACA staff member across the country will be working the virtual event as opposed to a specific “road team” on site supported some additional underwriters in their various offices. That means a much higher staff-to-member ratio and a faster moving event overall.
Another logistical advantage to the virtual events is that the queue for each day does have a hard limit (although we have ALREADY expanded it based on the first day) so we can definitely make sure everyone gets taken care of without exception and we can start the next day with a clean slate.
Regarding turnaround time, you have to remember that this is still new territory as yesterday was the first day of the first virtual event. However, the underwriting turnaround appeared to average about three hours yesterday based on a couple of files I saw. Whether that becomes or remains an average is something only time will tell.
In short, no guarantees, but the odds of you getting an answer in the next couple of hours are something I would definitely take to Las Vegas… when it reopens. 🙂

@ttrumble – are there underwriters working on non ATD files? I was submitted on TuesdayMay 15, 2020 at 6:43 pm #68056kjenkins79Participant
@ttrumble how do you get a prperty specific letter if everyone is at the virtual event. I requested this letter on Wednesday and still have not received itMay 15, 2020 at 11:50 pm #68070Faith81Participant
@GottaGetit I was told that the turn around time for the underwriters during the ATD events was 7 to 10 days. I was the polite pest as usual and my counselor being the sweetheart that she is I was actually able to get qualified today. I say keep pressing! I was actually signed up for the ATD in case all else didnt work out but I was blessed enough that it pulled thru!!May 16, 2020 at 10:32 am #68095Rml712Participant
@Faith81 do you know how your MC was able to push you up the line to get qualified? They wouldn’t even let me get in front of an event underwriter to speed up my time line because that was “jumping the line”May 16, 2020 at 11:24 am #68097
