I was told by 3 counselors that child support was alternative credit and today I meet with with the supervisor (of the office Im working with) at the American Dream Event and she said Child Support isn’t alternative credit!!! I’m really starting to believe everything with NACA is opinion based.
Any regular financial obligation can potentially be used as a source of Alternative Credit. Therefore, child support payments would qualify, with the possible exception of payments that are automatically being deducted from your paycheck by court order.
If the payments are being deducted from payroll, it would imply that there has been a past problem with making the payments in a timely manor, and would thus not be a reliable source of Alternative Credit.
That seems to be the problem but I asked the Child Support Department to take it out of my check from day one so that it wouldnt be paid late and now its come back to bite me. Hopefully I can get something in writing to prove it
