We have been patiently waiting on the sellers to fix one last repair which is the roof which is required by HAND dept. They have been slow with responding to their agent on updating us on the repair. Is it possible to have this one last repair waived through HAND? We don’t even mind paying for 2 inspections we are just ready to close and this is the only hold up which we have been waiting 3 weeks for this repair to get done. Help us!!

    Hello wilkinsj,

Roof issues are way up the scale where major health and safety issues are concerned. It’s going to depend on the nature and extent of the repairs needed.

Long story short, nobody here is going to be able to give you a definitive answer. You are simply going to have to bring it up with the HAND department to see if you have any options.

(I’m just curious why it’s taking so long to begin with, especially if the seller is eager to close.)

I have no idea, the house is in a trust so theres 4 siblings involved so its been a lot of them not agreeing and some agreeing on certain things. But we finally got information today that a roofing contractor will be out in two weeks to fix the roof and then we should be able to close mid May.
