i attended my first Workshop on May 30th. I had a few things i needed to fix, so i did. I had my first counseling session July 16th, i was told i needed to wait until september because i had a late from last year. My next appt was august 29th, i submitted all docs and my counselor submitted my file Friday, August 31st. I emailed her on Tuesday September 11th to see if she had heard anything from the under writers and she said no. I know they are currently at the achieve the dream so is it safe to say that i will not be getting any answer until after its over? How long does it normally take, Its going to suck if this spills over into next month and i have to submit paystubs and banks docs all over again….im kind of getting frustrated….but still im optimistic. any advice?September 14, 2018 at 9:13 am #44922
My first advice to you is to accept that this will, in ALL likelihood, “spill over” into next month. Plan for that.September 14, 2018 at 9:26 am #44923

@spanishvita…You will be asked to send paystubs and statements on a regular basis. Most likely up until close.September 14, 2018 at 10:10 am #44928
@butterfly123 I assumed that but do you know how long an underwriter should take to view your file?September 14, 2018 at 10:18 am #44930
@spanishvita I’ve been told to expect up to 3 days to hear back. Now anytime my file has been submitted I’ve heard back within a day or two. I’ve never experienced a delay due to any of the events being held so far.September 14, 2018 at 12:43 pm #44939
My file was submitted on 9/11/18. I was told by MC it could take 1 to 2 weeks before being qualified but keep my file up to dateSeptember 14, 2018 at 1:54 pm #44951
@spanishvita if your underwriter is at the ATD event it will slow things down. Your MC should be able to tell you how long it will take to hear back from underwriting. Also, you can call member services to ask what the backlog waiting time is to hear from underwriting. They, too, are pretty good about telling you. When I was going through underwriting they had an ATD event going on and I was told it was a 10 day wait period at the time. Check with your MC or with member services.September 16, 2018 at 6:04 pm #45012
Don’t give up hope on the underwriter’s response coming back sooner rather than later. Even if the underwriter is tied up at the Achieve the Drean event, they don’t have members in front of them every second of every day. I can tell you for a fact, if they don’t have members in front of them they are looking at their regular list of files.
Even those cases where I have to step in regarding a file, you’ll still see me doing that at the events when I’m not doing something else. I took somebody’s file to a senior underwriter this morning to get something clarified, and the member has been sent an email and has fresh narratives in the file to describe how to continue to move forward.
And don’t forget that we conduct the events over the weekend, so we’re working on things on Saturday and Sunday, which we normally wouldn’t be doing.
So, spanishvita, stay positive and keep us updated. While you might not hear back until late in the week, you could just as easily get a pleasant surprise.

I think Tim is onto something here:
I received an email from an underwriter about two hours ago (Sunday). (Again, though, not that that person has ever identified him/herself as such; I had to get that info from Customer Service).
I am pleasantly surprised. I was able to knock out two of the four conditions (I think) and get two people ready for the other two for tomorrow.
Frustration: One of the conditions which I have been experiencing for…three weeks..?? is “proof of rental for..xx period in 2017.” I responded at least three times, if not four, to anyone I could think of asking for clarification on what this meant. No answer from anyone. I sent in the documents again. And again. And uploaded them. And again. Nothing. I have been scrambling trying to figure out what it could possibly be. Asking landlord for this and that and maybe a statement, or, or, or….. Trying to figure out ON MY OWN what the problem was.
Today, in the email, the problem seems to be that my landlord signed the Verification of Rental form this May as 2017 instead of 2018.
SERIOUSLY? How difficult would that have been to explain to me at ANY time? Why not state that initially? Why, as an underwriter, would you want to make MORE work for yourself by having to continually remark on this “condition” versus just EXPLAINING THE ISSUE?!?!? I do not, nor will not, ever understand the thought process involved.
I think there’s the issue: My expectations have been WAY too high. Sky-high, in fact, in comparison to the reality. Something I can do to help going forward will be to definitely help others in this process to better set their own expectations in lieu of them not getting what they assume/think should be forthcoming.
Bottom line? Pleased. Still optimistic. Practicing, as always, Kaizan (continuous improvement).September 17, 2018 at 8:11 am #45015

@pmathewr Thanks so much! I’m so excited! I was stressing. I know I have a journey ahead of me by the looks of the forum, but I’m sure it’ll be worth it. Going to the purchase workshop Thursday than happy house searching 😊September 18, 2018 at 8:55 pm #45127
You’re very welcome. Please make a point to remember the joy in house hunting and at the end when you get into what we have. Ok?
