ParticipantI had an appointment scheduled with my counselor for Monday, July 20th. I received an email today from the Houston NACA Office stating that the office will be closed due to an Event and my appointment is canceled. This is very disappointing as this appointment was supposed to be the appointment I would receive qualification. I have not only prepared for this appointment but I have also completed my 6 month shock payment requirement. I scheduled a day off from work for my appointment and it has been scheduled for 3 months. I was able to call the Houston office and the only suggestions she could give me is to wait and reschedule for a September appointment or register for an appointment at The Achieve The Dream Event for a sooner appointment. (The first available event is on 9/27) Seriously??? Why would I wait until September when I ready be qualified now? It was very disappointing that I have done everything I need to do on my end only for them to decide that my efforts are not worth my scheduled appointment being kept. To add to the blow my counselor never returns a single email I send him. (including one from today) I read all the time on this forum to be “patient” and “positive” but where is the professionalism and consideration for those who are going through the process??? This is not ok and I’m very frustrated with NACA.

Participant@sneakerz4me Thanks for the encouragement. Currently waiting patiently to speak to a representative as caller number 65 in line with Member Service! Ugh!

ParticipantHi. Tim,
I have forwarded the email to you. If there is an event scheduled for Monday or not I don’t know. What I do know is that I received an email that my appointment was cancelled and my counselor won’t return my emails.

MemberHello all,
Well, I should have known the answer to that one off the top of my head. This Saturday and Sunday will be the first virtual ATD event since we did the series of six back-to-back weeks of five-day events. Since the virtual events involve the entire national staff, local offices are going to be closed on Monday so the staff gets at least one day off, just as we did with the initial six weeks of events.
@MNWilson, please refer to the email you have been sent.Tim Trumble

ParticipantAh thank you @TTrumble ! My mom received the same email. I’ll have her obtain a new appointment. Or I’ll see if she can sign up for an ATD event.

MemberHello sneakerz4me and applepie,
The important thing is to be proactive and not wait around. Call your local office or NACA Member Services and get rescheduled at the very first opportunity. Tell them you got bumped for the post-event day off and ask them to get you the very earliest thing possible.

ParticipantEmailed the MC yesterday when I saw your post. To my surprise he responded back. He said that my appointment still stands. But he mentioned the wrong time, don’t know if that was a mistake or if it’s been pushed back… He hasn’t responded

Participant@MNWilson…just offering you a bit of encouragement. You did EVERYTHING right, were ready and prepared and then BOOM, they hit you with that cancellation email. This has happened to me alot even after getting qualified so don’t lose faith. I was BEYOND frustrated and had to wait another month to speak with my counselor even after uploading all the documents I’ve needed and making sure my savings pattern was the same. All I can tell you is to manage your expectations with NACA, expect that they will cancel on you out the blue but do everything in your power to call your local office, email your counselor (a reasonable amount of times – even multiple times a day), or call member services to get that NEXT available appt and hope for the best. Keep in mind that if an ATD event is going on, your appt will most likely be cancelled, so try to anticipate the ATD events. Sorry for the inconvenience but just know that it’s happened to most if not all of us at least once.
