Does anyone know if NACA’s UWs are currently backed up due to the Achieve the Dream Events happening around the country? I was submitted last Monday. At the time, my MC said we were number 38 in line and the names ahead of me had been on the list for 16 days. I am just curious. Was originally under the impression we would hear something from underwriting within 3 business days.

    Thanks in advance!

They are backed up around the country. My first submission took 14 days. I had some things to correct and they resubmitted mine on the 20th of June. I haven’t heard anything back yet.

    Hello all,

Underwriting typically takes longer this time of year as it does for many other areas in the mortgage and real estate industries. Summer very simply is the peak time of year for home buying as there are that many more homes being purchased and mortgages being processed.

Thinking that the Achieve the Dream events are somehow causing backups in underwriting honestly doesn’t make sense if you have ever been to the events or know how they work.

The fact is that the underwriters and all the team members at the events plus many “back office” staff put in 16 to 18-hour days during the run of an event. We have had multiple days where we don’t leave the event until 3:00 am and are right back at 8:00 am that same morning to start again. Plus, the events always happen over the course of a weekend, meaning the staff sacrifices what are normally their days off.

The whole idea is to get as many people through the process and approved in as short a time as possible to reduce the huge workload we face. And by no means are all the people who come to the events brand new to NACA. In fact every NACA member in the region where an event is scheduled who is still in the qualification phase receives an email invitation to the event to finish getting their pre-approval. This reduces the number of files in the process and allows the underwriters to work through a now smaller stack of files.

Even here in the Forum, several members have experienced what happens at the event first hand. Southflorida, Cmontgo80 and jcleus200 have all been to events and have seen the huge amount of work put forth by our staff with their own eyes. They will all attest to the fact the events get a huge number of members moving forward in a very short period of time.

    Still true.

I submitted a file on July 3rd, and didn’t hear back until this past Monday. I am extremely disappointed in my MC, as he didn’t submit all the documents I sent to my webfile (to demonstrate that I met MRF). I even saw him exactly two days (July 5) after my submission and he verbally confirmed that he submitted everything. He isn’t very responsive to email inquiries (surprise).

On Monday, he states that the UW request certain documents. You can guess how upset I was when I saw that UW requested the VERY SAME DOCUMENTS that I submitted to him two weeks prior. Now I have to wait another two weeks!

Do yourself a favor and ENSURE that your MC submits EVERYTHING you can conceive the UW would want, to minimize your wait time at this time of year.

Thanks unfortunately I am still dealing with an MC that doesn’t submit my documents.

@ttrumble How’s it going.I am glad that you are saying that the “Achieve the Dream” events aren’t causing any delays or backups because that is exactly what I’ve been told each time i call member services. They have told me they wouldn’t be surprised if I don’t hear back 3 weeks out. I submitted my file on July 20th after my first intake appointment on July 19th.

My MC’s manager told me Friday that I should hear back within 48 hours and no luck. When do you think would be a great estimated timeframe that I can hear back. I am hoping that this event doesn’t push us back who’s sent into UW because I have no access into getting near the events otherwise I would.

I appreciate your time in advance!
