So I’m going to try to give details about our process so far for the Houston Area since reading I’ve read a lot posts and they all seem to be in another state.
We just started the process this August 2017 – a realtor that is trained for NACA Home Purchase recommended this option. Her name is Gloria Taylor (with Rolyat Realty) if you are looking for someone in the Houston area.
So our MC, Tonya Richard, is awesome thus far… she has worked hard to squeeze us into her busy schedule. When it’s your appointment she give you her undivided attention.
Anyways… lets get to our progress so far.
August 12, 2017 – NACA Workshop
This last a full day from 8-5; I believe. It’s a overview of the entire process, the purpose behind NACA, and really they try to prepare you for the marathon (not sprint) while reminding you of the benefits on the other side after closing on your home. I really enjoyed it, very informative.
*August 29th – Intake Appointment
This is when you meet your MC for the first time and also be prepared with all of the paperwork that is listed in your NACA book. I had almost everything except our credit card statements. You will get an Action Plan which is a to do list.(I don’t want to over commit but I will try to post a list of what was needed.)
*October 6th – Second Appointment via telephone
This appointment was more for our MC to upload all of our documents and to get a better ideal on what else will be needed. She basically emailed and requested documents and I sent them back via email. Very simple if you are organized.
*October 16th – Next Schedule Appointment
Right now we are close to having our file submitted to an underwriter – we didn’t have any major credit issues with late payments, overdrafts, or horrible credit that sometime delays the process.

Welcome to the Forum and thank you for detailing your progress thus far in the process. I hope you’ll keep us updated as you go along.
I hope you’ll allow me to make a couple of corrections to what you have shared.
The initial Home Buyer’s Workshop is no more than four hours long, not all day as you indicated. In fact they typically run closer to three hours, but we schedule a fourth hour to accommodate everyone’s questions.
Just to clarify, when you are emailing documents that your counselor has requested, please make sure to email them directly to your NACA file, using the address firstname.lastname@example.org (the x’s represent your NACA ID number). This sends the documents directly to your file, and doesn’t rely on your counselor transferring them over to your file. If you want to copy your counselor on that email, that’s okay as a back-up, but ALWAYS email them directly to your file without fail.

*NACA WORKSHOP -your correct it did end around noon or 1; thank you for the correction.
**The firstname.lastname@example.org that was setup for us did not work. I sent all of our documents over prior to our first meeting and our MC was not able to locate them. It was very disappointing BUT I had already cc myself and the MC in each of them and that was my saving grace for that appointment.

You are on your way @htownbound ! But emailing is the easiest way. Make sure they are pdf. files if you are sending through email. Also with email if i have to search i just look at my sent documents and just resend. Good luck!October 13, 2017 at 12:13 pm #38995
Blessedfam5 is correct. Make sure all documents emailed to the file are in the PDF (Adobe Acrobat) format. Also make sure that no individual email, including attachments, is over 10mb in size. In many cases, the servers along the way between your computer and ours will block emails over 10mb for security purposes, so use multiple emails if necessary.

October 18th – File came back from underwriter with 5 conditions, paperwork is being sent back in on October 19th. We already have our 3 points so hopefully the next time we hear from our MC its because we are qualified.
