    The office director and mortgage counselor is not returning emails or calls and the Seller wants to know if the appraisal has been ordered by the bank. I have called member services several times and have not received a response from the office. The seller is becoming upset about not knowing the status of the appraisal and when will it be done. This is the Detroit office I am dealing with.

    Hello zecarey,

    The appraiser is hired and paid for by the bank, not NACA, so we sometimes do not have confirmation until the appraisal arrives in your file. The bank is supposed to order the appraisal as soon as the bank app is submitted however.

    Additionally, with present conditions surrounding the pandemic, many appraisers are unable to conduct a full evaluation of the property because they cannot go inside.

    While in some areas, so-called “drive-by” appraisals (exterior only) are being accepted while in others, it has brought things to a near standstill. Unfortunately, I do not know what accommodations exist regarding appraisals in the Detroit area.

    Continue to reach out to your counselor by email. Namy NACA staff members are working from home and do not have access to their office phone, so email is still your best bet.

    I attended a home buying work shop June 2017 and never receive a pin. I’m also trying to start an online work shop but i keep getting a message saying that i signed up all ready and check email. please some provide me with information on what to do.

    Hello inw4lkr,

    Never receive a PIN? NACA files do not use a PIN. They use a seven digit Member ID number which is given to you at the time you set up your file online and a password which you select at that same time. Please call NACA Member Services at 425-602-6222 and a representative will help you locate your file and reset your password if needed.

    If I go through approval by myself and then get married or my by boyfriend starts to live with me after the qualification prices and the purchase of the home…how and if will this affect the NACA mortgage after the fact of purchasing?

    We have been in communication with our counselor since last year, lately our appts keep getting cancelled, stating the counselor is out of the office. We were a a part of the ATD event 2 weeks ago and the counselor marked us a Homewoner status but right after that, the meeting with our counselor was cancelled. What do we do at this point? Our counselor has cancelled all scheduled meetings in May and June. We are very anxious and a little discouraged at this point. How should we proceed?

    Hello bella427,

    Sorry for the delay in replying. There is nothing that can happen after closing on your home that can affect a mortgage from NACA or anyone else, other than you moving out and breaking the owner occupancy requirement. It is YOUR home.

    I’m afraid I don’t understand what you mean by “the counselor marked us a Homewoner status”. Could you please clarify?

    Your appointment was likely cancelled because of the virtual Achieve the Dream events we conducted for six straight weeks to accommodate the live events that were cancelled due to the pandemic. Every NACA counselor in the country participated in the virtual events. You could have registered for one of the online events, and can still register for one of the upcoming weekend online events, or call the local office or NACA member services to schedule a new appointment.

    We have attended an event. I apologize, I thought I mentioned that it my previous post. That’s when the young lady marked us a “homeowner status.” I’m not sure what it means either. I thought it maybe it was Naca lingo. At the end of the call, she stated that our counselor or a supervisor would contact us on the following Monday. We received an email stating that our appointment with our counselor would be on Tuesday and then a few hours before the scheduled meeting time, it got cancelled for the 4th time in a row. We were just a little concerned because we were hoping to be able to look for a home within the next 2 months. Thanks for the feedback. We’ll just wait for someone to contact us to follow up and in the meantime try to see if there are other avenues we can take.
