We attended the workshop last weekend and received our number yesterday (2/6/19.) I called to schedule our intake appointment after uploading a bunch of forms and could not get an appointment until August. I’ve browsed through other posts and it seems like most people got their intake appointment about a month after the workshop. Would there be a reason ours is 6 months out? We are out of the Newark, NJ office.

The only reason I can think of is that the Newark office has a long wait list. However, don’t get discouraged, give them a call weekly to see if somebody has cancelled an appointment and I am sure they will put you sooner than August

    Hello dvallee,

Newark is indeed one of the busiest NACA offices in the country, although even I’m a little surpirsed that they are booked all the way out to August.

This is actually one of the reasons we created the Remote Counseling program, and Achieve the Dream events, to help reduce the backlog that many offices experience.

Excellent advice from southflorida when he said “give them a call weekly to see if somebody has cancelled an appointment” You may also want to keep your eyes on the homepage of the NACA website for the latest updates on tour dates. If we schedule an event for Newark, NYC or Philly, come join us there!

Hii. My husband and I already had our intake appointment and needed to submit some documents. We finally were able to gather all documents (i think) required and needed and have been trying to reach our MC but were not able to. My husband called the main line and were given an appointment for April 23. We are located in San Diego so our contact with the MC has been remotely. Is there any way to request an earlier appointment. We don’t even know if she will be requesting more information/documents, and we don’t want to keep waiting months for another appointment. Can the MC look over the docs uploaded and let us know if we are missing anything?
This waiting times has been kinda frustrating to be honest.

    Hello TVV85,

NACA’s policy is to always give you the earliest possible apointment. (We don’t want to wait any more than you do! 😉 ) Calling the local office on a regular basis to see if there are any cancellations and attending an Achieve the Dream event are defintiely your best bets.

Keep an eye on the NACA website for additional tour dates. We recently added Rochester and Hampton Roads, and more dates will be announced in the next couple of weeks.

Ours was scheduled 3 months out. (our workshop was in december). We were sent to underwriting last week. They called us 3 days after the workshop and asked if we wanted to be moved up 2 months, the next week asked if we could come in the next day.

Let them know you’re ready and they’ll call. Have your stuff together.

Thank you so much for replying.
I am calling every other day or weekly hoping to get an earlier appointment. I will keep checking the website to see if there will be any Achieve the Dream event in California, preferably the LA/San Diego area.

    Hello,

My wife and I attended a workshop back on 1/26. We are based out of the Chicago area. I would assume that this is one of the busier offices, but I still find it kind of crazy that our intake appointment is all the way out on 6/05 when we checked “ASAP” for when our appointment. Is that normal? I am thinking about calling to ask to be moved up earlier as that is the exact same day my lease is up and I would like to possibly have this meeting before then, so we will know roughly how long until we are ready to get a home through NACA, therefore allowing us to know how long to re-new our lease.

Also, it has been almost 5 weeks and neither me nor my wife have received an email with our NACA ID’s and portal info or anything like that. Is that normal as well?

    Thanks.

    Hello Peapod0609,

You have just experienced one of the biggest reasons we created both the Remote Counseling Program and the Achieve the Dream evnts. In fact, ASAP actually WAS June 5th. The Chicago office is one of the busiest in the country. If you think that’s bad though, I’m told ASAP for Newark is August!

The demand for the NACA program has never been so huge. Even with hiring hundreds of Housing Counselors and Mortgage Consultants over the last couple of years, and seeing five-to-ten-thousand people over a weekend at the Achieve the Dream events, it’s still an overwhelming task for us.

Checking with the local office every so often to see if something earlier is available is a good idea. It just might get you the jump start you are hoping for. Also keep your eye on the NACA website for new Achieve the Dream event dates.

Regarding your NACA ID and password, please call NACA Member Services at 425-602-6222 and they can help you out.

    Hello Tim,

Thank you for the insight and advice. We will reach out for the login info and to see if there are any cancellations.

Might I ask, what exactly happens at the Achieve the Dream events? Are these events where mortgage counselors are present and can help you out similar to an intake meeting?

    Hello Peapod0609,

The Achieve the Dream events take the first four steps of the NACA process (workshop, document submission, counseling appointment and underwriting review) and bring them all together in one location to enable to qualification process to be completed in a much shorter time fram. In many cases, we are able to get a member qualified within 24 hours, and some even same-day!

Keep an eye on the home page at http://www.naca.com. You will see the latest tour information there, and new your dates should be added in the next few days.
