Has anyone in the forum had any dealings with the HAND department. If so what was your turn around time to get your inspection repairs estimate back from them.

I have been trying for about a week now to get a reply back from HAND by email and by phone with no luck. Even my realtor has had no luck and time is running out on my option period.

@ttrumble would you be able to assist me. I’m in desperate need at this point if I have not heard back by Tuesday at noon I could lose my earnest money of $1700.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi @dangela121 – For me, it was a total of 10 days. The inspection was submitted on the 8th and on the 11th, the HAND Dept sent the inspection back asking the Inspector to note that all utilities were turned on for the inspection. From what I understand, this is a new requirement. The inspection could not be completed in its entirety without the utilities being turned on so it seems kind of silly but I would make sure you have this on the report just in case.
I got the HAND repair list on the 18th which was 10 days after the first submission and 7 days after the revised report.

I emailed every single day to get a status check in and my coordinator was very responsive. On the 18th, I sent an email noting that we had been under contract for X amount of days and then I got the report back.

    Hello dangela21,

Your counselor is already on top of the situation and any interference on my part could easily turn it into a case of “too many cooks”.

BTW, it is YOU who needs to be contacting the HAND department, not your real estate agent. We will not discuss your NACA file with anyone who is not named on the loan, including your real estate agent. Instead, the agent needs to be focused on getting you an extension on the closing date.

@ttrumble I have on several occasions took the lead and contacted HAND myself by email, phone calls and left messages. I have even sat on the line to be told that they are about to directly connect me to the person that is handling my file only to once again get the voicemail. It is just very frustrating when contacting HAND seems to not work because no one is replying or at least acknowledging that they receive the correspondence.

Even before I started the process with HAND I left a message just to get general questions asked and that was like 3 to 4 weeks ago and still to this day no one has even contacted me back.

When this type of issue arising who do we reach out to? My MC has done her part. I have done my part. But no resolution in site.

    Hello dangela21,

As I always preach here, patience and persistence are the key. Continue to reach out to HAND and encourage your MC to do the same until you get the response you need.
