Have been in the process for 8 months and have had three appointments with MCs. Completed everything in prior action plans and was just told I need to complete an employment verification form. I was told the employer verification form could not be given to me until we had met payment shock even though we have consistently met payment shock every month since March and attended ATD in June and no one told us this was a necessary step.

We can get the employer form filled out within a week but now we have to wait another 2 months for a new appointment. We are running out of time.

Have others had an employer verification form given to them this late in the process? I don’t understand why we couldn’t have been given the form sooner so we could have it completed sooner.

I’m not positive but I think I remember the employment verification toward the end. It is definitely the last step before you close. At least in the bank app phase it’s the last step because they want to make sure your financial picture matches the underwriting the moment they approve you as opposed to having days weeks or months go by where anything could have happened and their documentation is outdated and they wouldn’t know it without sending an additional verification.

The question I have which may or may not answer why you haven’t yet received the form is when were you told this? The requirement is save at least 3 months of payment shock. It could be up to 6. You said you have been saving since March. That’s only 4 or 5 months if you need 6.

My understanding was you needed 3 months of payment shock. We achieved 3 months by the end of April and attended an ATD event in June and were told the only thing missing was the payment of taxes which we hadn’t paid because they were not due yet.

We paid our taxes and today we are given an employee verification form and told the next appointment is in 2 months.

Page 20 of the workbook says 3 to 6. In most cases it would be 3 and maybe that’s what you were told. I’m just saying one possible answer is that it can potentially be up to 6.

I would try calling your local office administrator periodically to try to get a sooner appointment. There are often cancellations that open up spots.

Are local offices actually open/ answering the phones?

Yes. Offices are open. Depending on where you are they may be working from home with no access to office phones.

    Hello nevergonnagetit,

    I’m afraid you’ve got ME confused…

The Verification of Employment and Verification of Rental are both supposed to be authorized by you during your intake appointment and have nothing to do with saving your Payment Shock.

As far as the form you were given, you may only sign the form where indicated to authorize it and must then send it in to your file so your counselor can in turn send it to your employer for verification. If you take any other action with the form whatsoever, the form is automatically voided.

If anything different than this happened, please contact me directly.

My employment verification occurred during my 1st meeting with my MC.

Seems like your MC had to backtrack and correct their mishap. During the NACA process, there will be times where you’re asked to complete items that could have been assigned or issued to you much sooner but for some reason the MCs often piece meal action items over several meetings that are dragged out over several months. Good luck!

    Hello Tim:

I had never seen this form until my third appointment. I was told it was not given to me sooner because payment shock had not been met (even though it had been met by the time of my second appointment in June which was an ATD appointment).

This was very frustrating because I really needed to move forward with qualification after my third appointment. We do not have endless time to go through the process. If we had the form sooner it would have been completed. After we received it, our employers completed the form in 2 days but now waiting up to two months before we can see a counselor again.
